Click for more detail... I was born on December 15, 1964 and have lived in Adams, Massachusetts all my life. Adams is located in the northwest corner of the state (FN32ko) - a 15 minute drive to Vermont to the north, and New York to the west. My QSL card shows Mount Greylock which, at 3,491ft, is the highest peak in Massachusetts. The summit is home to several repeaters owned and maintained by the Northern Berkshire Amateur Radio Club (callsign K1FFK), of which I am a director. I've been a police officer with the Adams Police Dept. since 1986 and I graduated from Westfield (MA) State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. I am married with a son, Joseph Alan and a daughter, Alaina Renee. My other passion is Geocaching, a real-life game in which you hunt for containers in any given area using a GPS. Of course I always bring a 2m/440 HT with me on these adventures! Like many other hams I became interested in the hobby by SWL as a kid. I was invited by an aquaintance (Don, N1ISB, SK) to check out the local Field Day Ops, and from that day on, I was hooked! I especially like CW [But it doesn't like me!] My primary interest is in emergency communications, participating in SKYWARN and ARES nets. I am a member of several ham clubs, including the ARRL, Northern Berkshire ARC, FISTS and the Six Club.
